I was able to overcome incredible odds and i am now about 90% recovered with every intention of a full recovery.
There have been many ups and downs during this time.
Tears and laughter, setbacks and progress, and always physical therapy with a lot of dogged perseverance on my part. At the age of 60, michele m of new milford was taken to the hospital, unable to walk, unable to lift her arms. In early 2020, a power wheelchair accident put me in the hospital for a few days. I spent 4 days with tests being ordered and preformed around the clock. By the 5th day i started complaining as i was in and out on the morphine that my toes hurt and were very numb. My neurologist ordered a spinal tap which led to finally solving the medical mystery.

I was diagnosed with guillain barre syndrome.
Diagnosis and beginning of recovery. I had emg's done, a spinal tap, and a muscle biopsy done. After christmas of 1995, we got the results of all the testing. Gbs can be an overwhelming diagnosis, but with the right treatment and support, recovery is possible.
